A Queer Burrow (Hang ổ queer)

A5 Photo zine
Page 1
In the cramped space at A Queer Museum, piled with books and items, A Queer Burrow (Hang ổ queer) is a special a place where both long-term residents and frequent visitors gather. Although the main part is the second floor of the house, sometimes, the enthusiastic queer forks ran from the first to the second doing their “performance”. Upon entering, guests gradually get more comfortable and they drag, they strip, they perform, they take photos, and they praise each other. It is a safe space, a home for all living beings (even things), regardless of gender, sexual orientation and expression.
Activities of A Queer Burrow are very different from the activities of A Queer Museum. While occurring first, A Queer Burrow continues happening yet at a more intimate and less formal level. Dwellers are often hanging more and having closer relationships to both Nhung as well as A Queer Museum that they become important members who keep its queer and community spirit alive.
These photos are stored in many now-full hard drives. They are both public and private, both accessible and inaccessible. With the inspiration and encouragement from Nhung, we come together at this burrow to create a photo zine that tells our stories, to visually document our journeys, our lives and so many others, the story of A Queer Burrow."

A Queer Museum (Một bảo tàng queer)

Vietnam

A Queer Museum (AQM) is a physical space for queer community, to preserve and nurture queer and feminist heritage in Vietnam. A Queer Museum is committed to promoting a society that protects, respects and cultivates diversity and equal rights for all, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity and expression.

During the residency at Sàn Art, HCMC (July 2020) between lock-down period of covid, Đinh Nhung wanted to pilot an idea of a queer museum in which queer people are part of the museum and make the museum possible with our presence, creativity, and expression in a space we feel safe and encouraging. After that, Nhung extended the idea of a performative museum in Hanoi at Babau-AIR. With other queer artists, the community and Babau-AIR, we lived together a whole month as A Queer Museum. So many stuff as well as people and activities; queer screening for three nights, zine-making workshop, performances, etc.

AQM mission is to preserve and nurture Queer and Feminist Heritage in Vietnam, promoting a society that respects, protects, and cultivates diversity and equal rights for all, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity and expression.
